1.7 million children experience homelessness on any given night. They have hopes and dreams just like any child. But many lack the financial resources to purchase basic back to school essentials. That’s where Gotta Have Sole steps in, providing homeless children with new footwear to meet their needs.
Summer is our busiest season, with footwear orders from around the country sent in during July and August, as families are preparing for back-to-school.
Every year we rush around to fill all these orders, and it’s hard. So this year we decided to do something a little bit different. We leaned on our audience, our donors, our friends, our good soles to join with us in a massive effort to get Shoes for School. The goal was to raise enough funds summer to provide shoes for 1,000 homeless children so they can start off the school year on the right foot. And we did it.
We raised $15,000 to send 1,000 homeless children back to school with brand new shoes.
And the response from homeless families was tremendous.
“The new shoes made my kid feel confident, proud and important. “
“My children can feel just like their friends now. They don’t feel left out anymore.”
“My kid couldn’t wait to go into school to show their friends their new shoes.”
When you give homeless children a new pair of shoes, you’re giving them so much more than shoes. You’re providing the superpowers they need to excel in school and beyond.
Let’s inspire more children with the powers to face any obstacle and rise above.
